Pitcher Ross Stripling announces retirement

Mandatory Credit: Stephen Brashear-Imagn Images Right-hander Ross Stripling announced his retirement from Major League Baseball on Monday after nine seasons.
Stripling, 35, requested and received his release from the Kansas City Royals in spring training after being informed he wasn't going to make the Opening Day roster.
"This has been an unbelievable honor, and I feel incredibly lucky to be so fulfilled and content with leaving the game behind," Stripling wrote as part of a larger post on X. "Now, I'm excited to be home and begin the next chapter of life with my amazing family."

Stripling posted a 40-54 record with four saves and a 4.17 ERA in 248 career appearances (129) starts with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2016-20), Toronto Blue Jays (2020-22), San Francisco Giants (2023) and then-Oakland Athletics (2024). He was an All-Star with the Dodgers in 2018.
