Phillies Fan Makes Diving Catch, Gives Charming Interview
In the sixth inning of last night’s game between the Phillies and Rockies, Freddy Galvis fouled a Jeff Hoffman fastball into the second deck behind home plate. That’s where Josh Persing, owner of a Brad Lidge jersey and a thick Philly accent, was waiting to pounce.
With the reflexes of a Gold-Glove third baseman, Persing dove over his girlfriend and snagged the liner with his bare hand:
The local broadcast team later caught up with Persing to ask him about his athletic feat, and he explained that he was simply acting on his instinct to protect his girlfriend—who was celebrating her birthday, by the way:
