PGA Tour Golfer Jason Bohn Survives Heart Attack And Major Arterial Blockage

Jason Bohn left this weekend’s Honda Classic on Friday and headed to a hospital after reporting chest pains to the tournament’s medical staff. He was taken to a Palm Beach hospital in an ambulance shortly after finishing his round on Friday. According to the Golf Channel’s Tim Rosaforte, “had it happened on the golf course, he wouldn’t have made it.”

PGA Tour officials initially reported that Bohn, 42, suffered a small heart attack, but according to Rosaforte, it was much more life-threatening than initially believed:

“It was a major heart attack. He told me his LAD [left anterior descending artery] was 99 percent blocked – that’s the major artery, also known as the widowmaker. They put a stent in and he’s resting comfortably in the ICU.”

He’s reportedly stable and improving now:

On Saturday, Bohn’s agent, Justin Richmond, released a statement saying the golfer was “resting comfortably and in good spirits. He is scheduled to have more tests this weekend.”

Bohn’s won two PGA Tour events, and was at the Honda Classic in an attempt to bring his ranking up from 71 to 64 so he could golf at next week’s WGC-Match Play Championship.
