Peyton Manning Is In A Walking Cast And The Broncos Are Working Out New Quarterbacks
Peyton Manning—the 39-year-old Broncos quarterback with a messed up neck, foot, ribcage, and quad—is in a walking cast and will miss at least Weeks 12 & 13, per the team. From the report:
Following a Monday consultation with noted foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, N.C., it was recommended that Manning spend at least the next week in a walking cast. After the cast is removed, he will begin additional rehabilitation on his injured foot.
While it’s uncertain whether or not he will try and play next year, rushing into rehab as soon as possible doesn’t seem like the actions of someone who’s embraced the peace of retirement. It came out yesterday that Manning reportedly wants to play again next year, but that seems to be up in the air:
The Broncos, meanwhile, look to be preparing for a Manning-less remainder of the season. In the release about Manning’s status, the team also announced that they’d be bringing in Christian Ponder, most recently of the Oakland Raiders, for a workout tomorrow. And according to a report from 9news.com, the team tried to snap up Jimmy Clausen after his release from the Bears. The Ravens beat them to it. Losing out on Jimmy Clausen should tell you all you need to know about the sorry state of the Broncos quarterback position.
