Orioles RHP Yennier Cano agrees to 2-year extension, plus club option

The Baltimore Orioles and right-handed reliever Yennier Cano agreed on a two-year contract extension plus a club option for 2029 on Friday.

Financial terms weren't announced. According to MLB.com, Cano will earn $7.5 million guaranteed over the next two seasons and the option is worth $10 million.

Cano, 32, is 2-2 with one save and a 2.21 ERA in 48 relief appearances this season. He was an American League All-Star in 2023 when he recorded a 2.11 ERA and eight saves in 72 appearances.

The Orioles obtained Cano along with three other players from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for right-hander Jorge Lopez at the 2022 trade deadline.

"Yennier has been outstanding for us both on and off the field since his arrival in 2022," Orioles general manager Mike Elias said in a news release. "He has blossomed into one of the game's most reliable and consistent relief pitchers. We are proud of all the hard work he has put in alongside our development team and are pleased he and his family will remain in Baltimore.

Cano is 11-17 with a 3.78 ERA and 16 saves in 268 relief appearances in five seasons with the Twins (2022) and Orioles.
