Ole Miss Lineman, Stepfather Drop Mutual Domestic Violence Claims
Ole Miss All-SEC tackle Laremy Tunsil and his stepfather, Lindsey Miller, have decided to drop the charges of domestic violence the two had filed against one another.
The pair filed following a physical dispute in which Tunsil claims he threw a punch after Miller shoved his mother, though Miller claims Tunsil started the fight and punched him in the face “six t0 seven times.” The Clarion-Ledger broke the news of the case’s dismissal Friday, stating that the case should come to an official end Monday.
The Ledger’s article also brings up a possible stupid NCAA violation, as Miller claims Tunsil accepted a ride from an agent the night of the incident. Of course, accepting a ride from someone who can make you money is viewed as an impermissible benefit by the almighty NCAA, because God forbid a kid gets a ride—the whole system would crash! However, Tunsil denied any violations occurred.
Farese admitted there was an agent present, but said Tunsil left in a rental car driven by a friend named “Zo,” who flew from South Carolina to Memphis and rented the car to drive to Oxford.
Per NCAA rules, Tunsil is allowed to speak with certified NFL agents as long as he doesn’t accept any impermissible benefits or sign.
NCAA officials traveled to Mississippi to speak with Miller, who claims he’s aware of multiple rules violations committed by the football program that date all the way back to Tunsil’s recruitment, just days after the incident occurred.
Tunsil is predicted to be a top-five pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
