Oakland Man Just Wants Customized Raiders Leg Back
Oakland man Darryl Turner has had plenty of challenges in his life, losing his leg and paralyzing his arm in a motorcycle accident 25 years ago. He then spent the ensuing 25 years as a Raiders fan. And now someone's made off with his silver-and-black prosthesis.
"That's all I want is my leg back," Turner told KTVU. That's it." Turner said the artificial limb was snatched from his gated front yard. "I been living here eight years and it's not the first time I've taken it off in my yard," said Turner. "And it's never been stolen."
Turner says he doesn't have the $7,500 to replace the Raiders leg, and his Medicare only covers one prosthesis every three years. According to the manufacturer, customized prosthetics have little value on the open market, just like 300-pound quarterbacks.
But, we wonder, if Al Davis can devote $9 million in guaranteed money to Sebastian Janikowski's leg, can't he find some cash for a diehard fan's?
