The 24-time Grand Slam champion and 99-time ATP Tour winner withdrew ahead of the ongoing Italian Open and has suffered a string of early-tournament exits in 2025.
Seeking his first tournament win since the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, the 37-year-old Djokovic will try his luck in Switzerland at the ATP 250-level Geneva Open that runs from May 17-24. Action at Roland Garros begins on May 25.
The Serbian star currently is ranked No. 6 in the world with a 12-7 singles record this year that includes opening-match losses in Madrid, Monte-Carlo, Indian Wells and Doha. He is 0-2 on clay in 2025.
He reached the final in Miami, losing to Czech teenager Jakub Mensik. He lost to Germany's Alexander Zverev in the semifinals at this year's Australian Open.
Djokovic, who competed in the Geneva Open for the first time last year and reached the semifinals, will celebrate his 38th birthday on May 22.
