Norwegian Hockey Player Dances Up A Storm After A Win
A wonderful find by Sean Leahy at Puck Daddy today. From Norway's second tier, here's Narvik's 22-year-old forward Adrian Alvarstein getting down after a win on Saturday. Just try to watch this without getting hyped.
The song is "Trumpsta," by Australian house DJ Contiez, and it's currently something of a hit in the Scandinavian nations. Alvarstein has created his own dance for it, and has shown it off to teammates in the locker room, but now he's trying to make it go national:
"I'm trying to get it out to all of Norway. When people hear the song, they should know that there is this dance that applies."
Narvik coach Magnus Skogfält makes it sound like Alvarstein's quite popular in the locker room:
"Adrian contributes much positive energy...It is clear that elevates the mood of the team... Especially when we're out and about it is good to have someone who spreads so much joy."
Alvarstein's an unlikely hockey player. Born in Swaziland, he was left on the steps of a church with his umbilical cord still attached. A Norwegian man happened to be traveling through at the time, and alerted his daughter, who was unable to have children of her own. The very next day she flew to Swaziland and began the adoption process. Six months later he was a Norwegian citizen, and took up hockey not long after that.
