Nikola Bartunkova gets through all-Czech quarterfinal in Monterrey

Nikola Bartunkova is through to her second semifinal of the year after a 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-3 win in an all-Czech matchup against Darja Vidmanova at the Abierto GNP Seguros on Thursday in Monterrey, Mexico.

Bartunkova survived eight double faults in part by saving nine of the 11 break points she faced. She converted four of her 12 break-point opportunities in the 2-hour, 44-minute match.

Next up for Bartunkova will be second-seeded Elise Mertens. The Belgian topped Ukraine's Yuliia Starodubtseva 6-1, 6-4 to reach her first semifinal in an individual event this year.

On the other side of the bracket, fifth-seeded Ann Li will clash with Diane Parry on Saturday. Li downed Alycia Parks 6-2, 6-3 in a quarterfinal matchup of U.S. players, while Parry got past Denmark's Clara Tauson 6-3, 7-5.
