NFLPA Bans Agent Ben Dogra For Three Years
The NFLPA announced today that it has revoked agent Ben Dogra’s certification for three years and fined him $200,000.
The players who comprise the National Football League Players Association’s Committee on Agent Regulations and Discipline (CARD) unanimously voted to impose discipline on Certified Contract Advisor Ben Dogra for violations of the NFLPA Regulations Governing Contract Advisors (“Regulations”). Based on verified information included in a thirty-eight (38) count disciplinary complaint, sworn testimony, and careful review of the evidence, CARD revoked Mr. Ben Dogra’s certification, with a right to re-apply to become a Contract Advisor after three years and a $200,000 fine.
Mr. Dogra has the right to appeal CARD’s discipline before an independent arbitrator. If Mr. Dogra appeals, any discipline is stayed until the appeal process is completed.
Dogra was fired by CAA in November of 2014. In May of 2015, Sports Business Journal counted Dogra’s remaining clients, which included Adrian Peterson, Mario Williams, and Brandon Carr.
After Peterson served a suspension for his child abuse charges, Dogra openly said in March of 2015 that the Vikings running back wanted to leave Minnesota as the two fluctuated between desiring a new contract or a trade. Peterson ended up staying with the team for the season.
In 2013, then-free agent Terence Newman called out Dogra. “If anyone sees Ben Dogra of CAA, tell him I’d like him to get my deal finalized so if he could call me it would be appreciated,” Newman tweeted. (He eventually deleted his complaint.)
