NFL: Supporting Kanye West Does Not Qualify As A Charitable Cause
Photo Credit: Rich Schulz/ [object Object] For one game only, the NFL allowed players the freedom to express support for charities in the “ My Cause, My Cleats” campaign last week. Many players chose organizations with a personal connection (Brandon Marshall and Project Borderline for borderline personality disorder, Ryan Shazier and the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, Dak Prescott and the American Cancer Society), and more than 100 shared the stories behind their cleats on the Players Tribune. But Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham went a different route:
If you’re asking what the “Yeezy Foundation” supports, the answer is nothing, because it does not exist. The NFL was not amused, and ESPN reported yesterday that Green-Beckham has been fined $6,076 for wearing the cleats, which were designed by Kanye West and released by Adidas. (DeAndre Hopkins was fined the same amount for wearing a pair back in Week 1.)
