NBA Roundup: The Insane Ramblings Of Phil Jackson
This image was lost some time after publication, but you can still view it [object Object] . Notes from Sunday's action in the National Basketball Association:
• Look, We're As Confused As You Are. Lamar Odom's 23 points and 10 rebounds led the Lakers over the Bulls 82-72 on Sunday, and Lakers coach Phil Jackson reports that he actually watched the tapes and produced the scouting report himself (assistants usually do it), because "It's been nine years since I coached the Bulls. I decided this would be the team I'd scout — relieve my crack staff and take it on myself this time. It brought on a familiarity of the Chicago Bulls to me.'' Of course that statement makes no friggin' sense whatsoever. But look, Cubs' fans! Alfonso Soriano!
• "Suck It, Sacram — Ow!" OK, here's an AP lead we're pretty sure you've never seen before: "Brent Barry already had a buzz cut, making sewing up his head that much easier for the Spurs' medical staff." Don't ask. Just be advised that three players needed stitches in this one, and Tim Duncan scored a season-high 35 points in a 108-99 win over the Kings.
• Good News Department. Wizards guard Jarvis Hayes is out of the hospital. He was placed there on Saturday with a game-related noggin injury.
