NBA Roundup: The Buck Stops Here
Notes on Wednesday's OTHER games in the National Basketball Association ...
• The Deer Hunter. If you're the type who sleeps more than eight hours a night, you probably missed the entire thing: Late Wednesday the Bucks fired coach Terry Stotts and hired Larry Krystkowiak (you, bleary-eyed: "Larry ... whosis?"). He was a Bucks assistant; you probably just forgot. Milwaukee is in last place in the Central Division at 23-41. Still, we are as shocked as anyone; we thought all was going well, especially after seeing Andrew Bogut make an obscene gesture toward his own fans on Monday.
• Charlotte's Web. Because we so rarely mention the Bobcats, here ya go. Sean May had 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead Charlotte over Sacramento 111-108. More significantly, May was 2-for-2 on 3-pointers. Yeah, totally bizarre.
• Green Day. Now, can someone explain to us why the Celtics are suddenly good? And does any Celtics fan consider this sudden surge a positive thing? Al Jefferson's 23 points led Boston to a 109-88 win over the Hawks; the Celtics' fifth win in their past seven home games. • Hey, LeBron Is Back. LeBron James, who sat out Tuesday's win over Sacramento with back spasms, scored 29 points as the Cavaliers beat the Grizzlies 118-96. James was 11-of-17 from the field and hit his first five shots of the third quarter.
