Nathan MacKinnon Can't Be Stopped Right Now
We were impressed by Avalanche sensation Nathan MacKinnon's stellar play in his first playoff game, so of course, the 18-year-old followed up his postseason debut with a better game, including his first career playoff goal.
MacKinnon had three helpful assists in Colorado's Game 1 victory, but in Game 2, he found the back of the net. The rookie used his speed to trip up the Wild's Jared Spurgeon and tie the score up at one in the first period.
While you're here, watch MacKinnon's smart pass back to Gabriel Landeskog for the Avalanche's second goal.
MacKinnon finished with a four-point game, as did teammate Paul Stastny, but MacKinnon's was noteworthy in that his name earned a couple of spots in the record book. His assist on Stastny's empty-net goal with 15 seconds left gave the forward seven points in his first two playoffs game.
If Minnesota can't find a way to quell MacKinnon—or his linemates—it's going to be a short series.
