Nate Diaz Is Still Talking Wild Shit About Conor McGregor
Photo credit: Steve Marcus/ [object Object] Last night, Dana White announced that the main event at November’s UFC 205 in New York City would be a lightweight title fight between Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor.
This is a rather surprising main event, given that McGregor was supposed to be out until next February with a foot injury he picked up during UFC 202. Apparently, he’s healthy enough to fight, and White is not one to pass up an opportunity to get his most bankable fighter in the octagon. Khabib Nurmagomedov was supposedly set to fight Alvarez, but McGregor’s entree into the event makes him the odd man out.
Another dude who isn’t happy? Nate Diaz.
In the intermediate aftermath of McGregor’s slim decision win over Diaz in UFC 202, Dana White said that there would not be a third meeting between the two fighters. The UFC has much more to lose than gain if the two fight right now; the inevitable rematch will be a massive draw, and the two fighters’ mismatched weights are another complicating factor. So Diaz probably wasn’t surprised by the development, but he’ll never miss an opportunity to talk trash.
