Minor Leaguer's First Game With New Team: Two Grand Slams, 12 RBI
Astros prospect Derek Fisher earned promotion to the California League Lancaster JetHawks this weekend, and made the most of his first game at Class A (Advanced) with a 4-6, three home run, 12 RBI performance that smashed a single-game league record that had held for 61 years.
Fisher, the 11th-ranked prospect in the Astros system, had previously put up a .305/.386/.510 line for Class A Quad Cities. And while the RBI record is mostly a random feat (Fisher had nothing to do with the fact he came to the plate three times with the bases loaded), it’s an impressive debut regardless.
We’re not scouts, and we don’t know if Fisher’s actually projected to be a star in the majors—though he did tear it up as a college player at Virginia. But Astros fans already basking in the glory of the current MLB standings can take pride in their future, for now.
