Mike Trout Is Headed To The DL For The First Time In His Career
Photo: Lynne Sladky/ [object Object] Mike Trout left Sunday’s game against the Marlins after he appeared to sprain his thumb on a headfirst slide. The extent of the injury was unclear at the time, but an MRI today showed that the Angels outfielder has a torn ligament in his left thumb. The 25-year-old will go to the disabled list for the first time in his career.
Trout, who has been one of the best players in baseball since his first full season in 2012, was on track this year to be even better than his previous MVP seasons. His absence will leave the Angels, who were only managing to hang around the .500 mark because of his major league-leading WAR, to replace Trout with either Ben Revere or someone from their sub-par farm system.
