Mike Shanahan Says He Doesn't Use Email, Is Probably Full Of Shit
Here's a partial transcript— flagged by DC Sports Bog's Dan Steinberg—of a meeting Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan had with reporters on Monday night:
Reporter: Mike Tomlin just started a twitter account; can we expect a Mike Shanahan Twitter account in the near future?
Shanahan: First of all, I’ve never been on Twitter. I don’t even have e-mail. I just learned to text about two years ago, so that’s where I’m at. No, seriously, I don’t have an e-mail. I do text, and I’m not very good at that. I’m NOT getting into the Twitter.
OK, I'm calling bullshit on that. Mike Shanahan is only 60 years old, and he's someone who probably has daily interactions with very successful, high-level NFL executives—the kinds of people who do a lot of their communicating via email. He's also got children! No 60-year-old man has ever been able to stop himself from emailing his kids pictures of whatever golf course he played that weekend.
This is most likely a case of Shanahan trying to present himself as an old-timey, grit-and-moxie fueled football coach. No time for email in this office, junior. I've got naked bootlegs and zone blocking schemes to worry about! *Grumble grumble grumble.*
