Michael Wacha Blows Ninth Inning No-Hitter For The Second Time In His Career
credits: Jeff Roberson | source: [object Object] For the second time in his career, Cardinals pitcher Michael Wacha carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning of a major league baseball game, today at home against the Pirates. And for the second time in his career, a lousy softly-hit single spoiled his shot at history. Three outs away from the 11th no-hitter in Cardinals history. Man.
In just his ninth career start, back in 2013, Wacha carried a no-hitter against the Nationals right to the 27th out, where it was broken up by the lousiest lousy single you have ever seen, from Ryan Zimmerman, on Wacha’s 112th pitch:
Today, in his 124th career regular season start, Wacha’s no-hitter was ruined by a dipshit soft liner from Colin Moran, on Wacha’s 111th pitch. Bullcrap! Wacha is on an insane tear this season: he hasn’t given up more than two earned runs in his last nine starts, and he hasn’t taken a loss since March 31, his first start of the season. That’s all very nice, but it is obviously not going to look very cool on a plaque the way, you know, a no-hitter would. Maybe it’s just not meant to be.
