Michael Floyd's Agent Blames Positive Alcohol Test On Kombucha
Photo: Jim Mone/ [object Object] Michael Floyd is currently under house arrest in Minnesota, a sentence stemming from a December 2016 drunk driving arrest where he blew a .217. He was released by the Cardinals shortly after, then signed with New England, where he won a Super Bowl. He was sentenced to 24 days in jail and 96 in house arrest, and after he signed with the Vikings, the terms of his house arrest allowed him to attend Vikings camp while still being monitored.
TMZ reported this morning that Floyd is now due for a June 26 court appearance in Arizona after he violated the terms of his house arrest. He was apparently tested for alcohol four times between 5:33 and 6:33 a.m. Sunday morning (he is scheduled for six tests every day) and his blood alcohol content was measured at .055, .045, and .044.
His agent released a statement regarding the positive test and blamed kombucha for the result:
On June 10, 2017, Michael watched movies at his place of residence until 3:00 a.m. During that time, he drank several bottles of kombucha tea drinks, unaware that the drinks contain alcohol.
Almost all of the kombucha on the U.S. market is 0.5 percent ABV or lower.
