Marriott Argues That Peephole Videos Didn't Hurt Erin Andrews's Career

Sportscaster Erin Andrews went to the stand for her second day of testimony in her lawsuit against the Marriott Nashville at Vanderbilt, which she accuses of giving her hotel room number to her stalker and putting him in the room next to hers. On cross examination, one of Marriott’s attorneys, Marc Dedman, suggested that Michael David Barrett’s recordings of her undressing didn’t harm her career.

Dedman’s questioning implied that even after the videos were released to the public, Andrews was able to acquire endorsements:

Dedman’s strategy is heartless—it’s pretty gross—but that’s his job. Andrews is seeking $75 million in damages, and by any means necessary Dedman is trying to prove she shouldn’t receive the full amount, if anything. It’s part of a two-pronged strategy, with the other half being Marriott’s claim that while Barrett (who served two and a half years in prison) recorded Andrews without her permission, the hotel can’t be held responsible.
