Markelle Fultz Is Trapped In An Endless Reevaluation Loop
Photo credit: Mitchell Leff/ [object Object] Even when it at first looks like good news, no Markelle Fultz news is ever good news. For example:
Fultz was shelved on October 25, after his bizarre, dysfunctional shooting motion was finally attributed to a hurt shoulder. Initially this was considered a short-term measure, with Fultz scheduled to miss only three games. A few days later, on October 29, the injury was finally named—scapular muscle imbalance—and his timeline for return was made indefinite, although he was to be reevaluated after three weeks. Three weeks later, Fultz was reevaluated, and ... a new reevaluation date was set, two to three weeks in the future. Folks, when the Sixers say “indefinite,” they fuckin’ mean indefinite.
Here we are, three weeks later, and the news is that Fultz will be reevaluated in three weeks. I have a pretty good idea what the result of that reevaluation will be. I look forward to a day when I can blog a damn Markelle Fultz NBA highlight, but that possibility is looking more and more remote. Fultz’s hype and rookie season are fading away into obscurity, one three-week reevaluation at a time.
