Luis Suarez, Inter Miami vying for 6th straight win at CF Montreal

Inter Miami will bid to extend their winning streak to six matches when they travel north for a clash with CF Montreal on Saturday night.

Luis Suarez scored twice as Miami (10-2-4, 34 points) topped the Chicago Fire 3-2 on Wednesday night -- its first match following the World Cup break.

The Miami forward has scored five goals in the past two regular-season matches, following a hat trick against Philadelphia back on May 24.

Entering Saturday's match, Miami has picked up points in all but two contests this season.

"I really want to congratulate not just one individual, but the entire squad," interim coach Guillermo Hoyos said. "They've done an outstanding job throughout this entire period, and we've been doing things very well."

Lionel Messi and Rodrigo De Paul are not expected to be on the trip to Montreal as they recharge following Argentina's run to the World Cup final.

Montreal (4-9-3, 15 points) will look to get back in the win column after picking up just one of a possible six points since the World Cup break.

Philippe Eullaffroy's squad dropped a 1-0 decision in Nashville on Wednesday and is riding a five-match winless skid (0-2-3). Montreal hasn't recorded a victory in the league since a 2-0 decision over Orlando City on May 9.

On Friday, Montreal announced it had acquired defender Brayan Ceballos from the New England Revolution in exchange for $500,000 in General Allocation Money in 2026, $250,000 in GAM in 2027 and up to $100,000 in conditional GAM.

"Brayan is a reliable and versatile defender who can play effectively in a variety of systems, making him an important addition to our roster," Luca Saputo, Montreal's managing director of recruitment and sporting methodology, said in a statement. "His strengths will complement those already present in our defensive unit."

In a separate transaction, the club acquired up to $625,000 in General Allocation Money from San Diego FC in exchange for defender Dagur Dan Thorhallsson on Friday.

Saturday's match against Montreal is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. They'll meet again in Florida on Aug. 29.

Last season, Miami swept the two matches between the teams, outscoring Montreal 8-3 in the process.
