Kristaps Porzingis Sounds Like He's Cool With Staying In New York
Photo: Elsa/ [object Object] Possible future of NYC basketball and good workout-doer Kristaps Porzingis called New York “home” in an interview with nba.com today. That’s great news for Knicks fans, who earlier this summer had to deal with rumors that the now-ousted Phil Jackson was trying to trade the 22-year-old supernova of potential. From the interview:
“So far it’s been tough in New York, but my journey is only beginning and I hope to stay there my whole career, so as a city we can have some fun and win some games and do something big.”
If we take Kristaps at his word and call this the end of the saga, then the next big question for the Knicks is what to do with Carmelo Anthony, who is definitely not part of the team’s future plans. By all appearances, both sides want out, but salary cap rules and Anthony’s big contract might make any deal a tricky endeavor.
Still, this is finally a story out of New York that won’t make Knicks fans laugh-cry. Enjoy this while it lasts.
