Kristaps Porzingis Sits Out, Says He May Need Elbow Procedure In The Offseason
Photo: Abbie Parr/ [object Object] Kristaps Porzingis, the centerpiece of the New York Knicks’ future, sat out his team’s game tonight—the second night of a back-to-back—as he nursed both a sprained left ankle and right elbow bursitis.
While there’s no reason for anyone to get too worried, Porzingis did warn that his elbow has been a long-term problem, and that he’s been dealing with inflammation and swelling for years. He’s finally contemplating some sort of procedure—either drainage or a minor surgery—in next summer’s offseason. From the :
“When I hit it again it just swells up and it’s sensitive and I can’t stretch my arm,’’ Porzingis said of his ballooning elbow. “It bothers me a little bit but not that bad. It’s always, I have to get the swelling down and then I’ll be fine again. But I think once the season’s over. I might have to do something about it. I just can’t keep going like this every year.”
Without Porzingis, the Knicks struggled against the Orlando Magic and lost, 112-99.
