Klay Thompson Just Dropped 40 Points In A Half
Photo credit: Marcio Jose Sanchez/ [object Object] The Warriors are on pace to finish the season with the best offensive efficiency in NBA history, thanks primarily to the pyrotechnical shooting prowess of Steph Curry and Kevin Durant. Klay Thompson started the season out slowly, but tonight he broke all the way out and scored 40 points in the first half of the Warriors’ game against the Pacers. Thompson has a penchant for explosive bursts of scoring, and 40 is the most he’s scored in a half.
Here is a full highlight reel from the half. Klay went 5-for-9 from three-point range and got a lot of joy in transition against the Pacers’ terrible defense.
One shot was so good that it sent Curry running back into the tunnel, which would have been a lot cooler if he was in the game at the time.
This is the NBA’s first 40-point first half since 2003, when Kobe dropped 42. Thompson finished just 10 points shy of the entire Pacers team on the half. They didn’t get all their fun over with in the first half, as they quickly engineered this fast break in the third quarter.
