Kevin Johnson Apparently Out Of The Running To Be Married To Trump's Secretary of Education
Photo credit: Carolyn Kaster/ [object Object] Disgraced school-privatization activist Michelle Rhee announced today that she doesn’t want—or at least is not pursuing—a job as Donald Trump’s secretary of education.
Rhee’s name has been floated for the cabinet-level position since shortly after Election Day. On Saturday she and her husband, accused sexual abuser and disgraced outgoing Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson, met with accused sexual abuser and president-elect Donald Trump at his Bedminster golf club, along with a slew of other prospective cabinet nominees.
Today, though, Rhee tweeted that she is “not pursuing a position” with the incoming administration, and insinuated that she met with Trump simply to talk about education, not to lobby for a spot in his cabinet. (Rhee still hasn’t explained why she brought Johnson along to the summit.)
The announcement:
Perhaps Rhee will overcome her hesitance and reluctantly accept a position that would allow her to attack teachers and teachers’ unions in service to Donald Trump while bringing Kevin Johnson to the nation’s capital, and perhaps not; only time will tell. For now, though, it seems like Johnson won’t be going to Washington.
