Justin Rose Wins The U.S. Open
Justin Rose won the U.S. Open, but since Phil Mickelson came in second (again) it'll play like Phil lost it. But Justin Rose (basically) kept it together while everyone else fell apart and deserves some credit for succeeding where they all failed. He shot even on the day when most of his competition was four or five strokes over.
Phil had the eagle on 10 and another birdie and that's it. Hunter Mahan could barely shoot straight on the final four holes and Luke Donald went on a stretch where he shot bogey or worse on six out of seven holes. Jason Dufner and Ernie Els were the only two of the leaders who managed to shoot under-par today.
Rose had been shown getting emotional throughout the final moments of his final round and told Bob Costas was acknowledging his late father after finishing up the par on 18 that would eventually seal the championship for him.
