Just When You Think We've Reached Peak Mets, Noah Syndergaard Comes Down With "Hand, Foot, And Mouth Disease"
credits: Dylan Buell | source: [object Object] The Mets have spent an MLB-high $39.5 million on players on the disabled list in 2018, almost $2 million more than the next highest team on the list, and a full $12 million more than the third highest. I am going to guess the dollars they spend on Noah Syndergaard’s new ailment are the weirdest they will spend this season, but these being the Mets that’s an extremely uncertain guess:
The CDC says this delightfully named disease “is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than five years old,” although it does occasionally shows up in [gigantic Thor-looking] adults. It starts with a fever, a sore throat, and “a feeling of being unwell,” and eventually progresses to include little red sores around the mouth and on the feet. It should clear up in a matter of days, but someone should warn Syndergaard that the feeling of being unwell will last for exactly as long as he is a member of the Mets.
