Just Three European NBA Players, Making Jokes And Burning Hassan Whiteside
Jazz center and large Frenchman Rudy Gobert sent a semi-hot, cryptic tweet two days ago:
This brought a playful reply from Magic center and Montenegrin national Nikola Vucevic:
Gobert replied by jokingly called out fellow Frenchman Evan Fournier, a shooting guard for the Magic who also rocks a pretty sweet ponytail:
These guys are all buddies and were clearly just joking around, but where this gets funny is when Fournier jumps into the thread:
Blancoté isn’t a real French word, but “blanc” and “côté” translate to “white” and “side,” as in Heat center Hassan Whiteside, a guy who certainly puts up a lot of gaudy numbers ( and isn’t shy about trumpeting them), but hasn’t done a whole lot to turn his team into a consistent winner.
This is why Twitter is so great. Not only does it give fans a way to directly talk shit to athletes, it also gives us the occasional glimpse into athletes talking shit about each other. I like to imagine that Fournier, Gobert, Vucevic are all on an email or text chain, which they use to send each other news items about Whiteside with comments like, “You fuckin’ believe this guy?”
