JuJu Smith-Schuster Regrets His Sloppy Post-TD Performance As Choking Victim Jalen Ramsey
The Steelers have put together a strong portfolio of touchdown celebrations this season, but they had a bit of a stumble Sunday against the Colts. After receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster scored in the third quarter, he celebrated by reenacting one of Week 9's NFL fights. Smith-Schuster portrayed Jalen Ramsey as teammate Le’Veon Bell’s A.J. Green “choked” him. It wasn’t their best performance.
Bell didn’t commit to the choking part, so he looked like he was just aggressively hugging Smith-Schuster. In a moment of honesty after the game, the WR called the celebration “terrible,” because the final act wasn’t actually delivered. From PennLive:
They were supposed to shake hands, he said, then come off the field holding hands, making light of the spat. Instead, they loosely mimicked the takedown and shook hands. He analyzed their celebratory shortcoming like a sternly disappointed head coach.
“I mean, you can’t really rehearse what’s really going on with the A.J. and Ramsey thing, but hey, we made a mistake and we’ll come back to it,” Smith-Schuster said. “We got to get better next week for celebrations.”
Smith-Schuster and company should celebrate a touchdown next week by mimicking the best touchdown of the week before. Get really self-aware with it.
