Jon Singleton Homers In First Career Game, Gets A Gum And Gatorade Bath
Jon Singleton, the Astros' first base prospect with a left-handed swing that was built to launch homers, made his MLB debut last night. Things weren't looking so good at first, as Singleton started the game with two errors and two strikeouts. He made up for the rocky start in the bottom of the 8th inning, though, when he crushed the absolute hell out of a pitch and sent it sailing over the fence in right field.
His teammates were genuinely happy for him, first mobbing him in the dugout and then hitting him with a Gatorade and gum bath during his postgame interview:
Singleton is one of the top prospects in the Astros organization, and they've got him locked up for the foreseeable future. With him and George Springer around, the Astros might become a team that is actually worth watching.
