John Skipper Has A New Job
credits: Drew Angerer | source: Getty John Skipper, the former president of ESPN who resigned suddenly in December and then said in March that he had stepped down because he was being blackmailed by a cocaine dealer (who wasn’t his regular cocaine dealer), and said he had been to rehab but denied that his drug addiction ever affected his work, has been hired as the executive chairman of a UK-based sports media company called Perform Group that helps fans “engage with sports.”
Skipper will help the company, which produces subscription streaming services, “continue its impressive progress,” according to the press release announcing his hire. Perform Group CEO Simon Denyer said:
“John is one of the most significant leaders in the history of our industry, and I am delighted that he has agreed to join me and the team to help take Perform to the next level of our ambitions.”
Skipper said:
“Simon and his team have built an enormously impressive company, providing an excellent base to establish a global leadership position in the over-the-top sports subscription business, the clear future of sports delivery.”
Congrats to all parties and if you know anything about Skipper getting blackmailed by his coke dealer, let us know.
