Jockey Who Drove His Car Into A Race Track Security Guard Was Not Permitted To Ride Horses Today
Last night, Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux is said to have intentionally driven his silver 2003 Porsche Carrera into a lady "peace officer" in the Saratoga Race Course parking lot. Bad form, yo.
He'll go to court for the misdemeanor reckless-endangerment charge next week. The track did not let him ride today. They didn't call it a suspension; they called it a we'll-address-it-on-Friday. Here's what the New York Times was kind enough to point out:
The jockey, 41, has a history of alcohol-related incidents, although police reported alcohol was not a factor in the recent incident. Desormeaux failed a Breathalyzer test at Woodbine Race Course in 2010 and acknowledged a drinking problem then.
