Jets Fans Cheer Rookie Who Says He'd Prefer To Die On The Field
Photo credit: Elsa/ [object Object] The Jets held a forum at training camp today in which a group of about 150 fans got to ask questions of players. Things got a little uneasy when the topic turned to head trauma, and safety Jamal Adams, the Jets’ first-round pick this year, said if he had to pick a place to die it would be on a football field.
NJ.com’s Darryl Slater took note of exactly what Adams said:
“I’m all about making the game safer, but as a defensive player, I’m not a big fan of it. But I get it. I can speak for a lot of guys that play the game. We live and breathe [football]. This is what we’re so passionate about. Literally, if I had a perfect place to die, I would die on the field. And that’s not a lie. There’s so much sacrifice that we go through as a team, and just connecting as one and winning ball games. There’s nothing like playing the game of football. But again, I’m all about making the game safer.”
Most of the assembled fans cheered. Seated right next to Adams on the dais was NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who offered no noticeable reaction.
