Jaguars May Show RedZone Channel On Their Stadium Video Board
The Jaguars have a new logo, new uniforms, and by 2014, will have the NFL's largest video boards (once the city figures out how it'll pay for them.) But here's an intriguing idea floated by the team: using those screens to show other games.
Team President Mark Lamping tells SportsBusiness Journal (via Pro Football Talk) that the Jaguars could devote a portion of their massive video boards to airing the NFL's RedZone Channel.
“We know this would be welcomed by the large portion of our fans who are transplants to Jacksonville, as well as all fantasy football enthusiasts,” Lamping said.
The Jaguars are going to catch shit for this, but they shouldn't. This is brilliant. Attending an NFL game generally sucks and takes away the best parts of football Sundays: flipping to whichever game is the most exciting, and tracking your fantasy roster. The league knows this—it's why Roger Goodell is hammering the "every stadium needs wi-fi" angle so hard—but the Jags are just the first to put it into practice.
