Jackie Bradley Jr. Threw The Fuck Out Of This Ball
Jackie Bradley Jr. has been having a truly nightmarish season at the plate. The kind you tell your kids about, the kind that would otherwise warrant a player riding the bench for much of the year. We’re talking about a .182/.279/.297, four-dingers-through-65-games sort of season. But his defense is insane enough to justify giving him something close to an everyday role in the Red Sox starting lineup, leveling things out to a WAR of 0.0.
Bradley flashed his powers in Tuesday night’s 6-2 loss against the Twins. After fielding a routine fly ball during the eighth inning, he recoiled and absolutely chucked a laser to Sandy Leon at the plate, who tagged out Robbie Grossman. Statcast clocked it at 103.4 mph, which makes it the hardest throw from an outfielder all season, and the fourth-hardest throw since the system began tracking in 2015.
Luckily for the Red Sox, they rank second in runs, batting average, and slugging, so there’s more than enough cushion to keep Bradley in the lineup if he’s doing shit like this every so often.
