Italy to host Davis Cup’s Final 8 for next three years
Jannik Sinner celebrates after defeating Taylor Fritz in the men's singles final of the 2024 U.S. Open tennis tournament at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York on Sept. 8, 2024. The Davis Cup Final 8 is heading to Italy, a country that has had no shortage of tennis success in recent years.
The Spanish city of Malaga hosted the past three editions of the Davis Cup Finals, but Bologna be the site of the 2025 edition, the International Tennis Federation announced Monday. Specific cities were not yet revealed for 2026 and 2027.
"We are delighted to partner with the FITP (Italian Tennis Federation) for the Davis Cup Final 8," ITF President David Haggerty said in a statement. "Italy has a rich history in tennis and a proven ability to host world-class sporting events."
Italy has won the past two Davis Cup titles thanks in large part to Jannik Sinner, who ended the year as No. 1 in the world. Italy also won the women's equivalent of the international team event, the Billie Jean King Cup, whose finals were also played in Malaga this year.
Last month, the governing body of men's tennis announced a deal to keep the ATP Finals in Italy through 2030. The event was already slated to stay in the northern city of Turin through 2025.
