Jake Guentzel notched his first goal with the Hurricanes and Evgeny Kuznetsov, Seth Jarvis, Jalen Chatfield and Brendan Lemieux also scored for Carolina, which reached the seven-goal mark for the second time in eight days. Sebastian Aho supplied three assists.
Guentzel, who was in his fourth game with the Hurricanes since a trade from the Pittsburgh Penguins, made the score 6-2 in the third period with his goal. It was Carolina's third goal in a four-goal final period.
Goalie Frederik Andersen made 30 saves to improve to 4-0-0 since returning to action after more than four months out of the lineup due to a blood-clotting issue. He stopped all 11 third-period shots.
Thomas Chabot and Tim Stutzle scored for the Senators, whose three-game winning streak was wiped away. Chabot also had an assist. Goalie Anton Forsberg yielded seven goals on 38 Carolina shots.
The score was tied until Jarvis scored with 22 seconds to play in the second period for a 3-2 edge. He has 23 goals this season.
Guentzel notched the shootout winner Saturday night at Toronto, but this latest tally counts toward his season statistics. He has 23 total goals this season.
Orlov, a defenseman, posted his fourth and fifth goals of the season.
Kuznetsov, who also was an addition for the Hurricanes at the trade deadline, posted his second goal with Carolina. He had the only special teams goal in the game, coming on a second-period power play.
Chatfield, who picked up his seventh goal, and Lemieux, who now has three goals, had two-point outings with an assist apiece.
Ottawa never led. Chabot's seventh goal knotted the score at 1-1. Stutzle's 17th goal made it 2-2 less than three minutes after Kuznetsov put Carolina ahead.
The Hurricanes had a strong start with a 13-7 first-period edge in shots.
