Homer Bailey No-Hits Giants, Joins Exclusive Club Of Pitchers
Homer Bailey—who threw MLB's most recent no-hitter in September of last season—repeated the feat tonight, retiring the Giants and becoming just the sixth pitcher in history to make his mark on baseball's no-no list consecutively.
Addie Joss, Johnny Vander Meer, Allie Reynolds, Warren Spahn, and Nolan Ryan (twice) are the other pitchers to have accomplished the feat.
Noteworthy is that every time the feat has been accomplished, one member of the battery eventually entered the Hall of Fame; Vander Meer and Reynolds are not enshrined, but their catchers (Ernie Lombardi and Yogi Berra, respectively) are.
