Smith-Imagn Images Georgia has been producing points at a record level in the first week of the season since coach Mike White gave the players more freedom to run the offense.
The Bulldogs scored 104 points against Bellarmine in the opener on Monday, the most in four seasons under White and their highest output since 2018. Georgia followed with a 94-29 win Wednesday over Maryland-Eastern Shore, the most lopsided win in the history of Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga.
Georgia (2-0) will try to continue the trend Sunday when it hosts Morehead State (1-1) in Athens. The Bulldogs have won 29 straight non-conference games on their home court.
"Coach has taught us to trust ourselves, make plays, play downhill, play together and read what the game gives us," Georgia guard Blue Cain said.
Cain (15.5 points) leads four double-figure scorers for the Bulldogs, joining freshman Jake Wilkins (14.0), Jeremiah Wilkinson (13.5) and Kanon Catchings (11.5).
"The biggest positive from the (Maryland-Eastern Shore) game for us is that we started off shooting the basketball so poorly, but we kept flying around, forcing turnovers and applying pressure," White said. "Playing really hard with shots not going in is a pretty good sign."
Morehead State lost 81-65 at Wake Forest on Friday. It will mark a homecoming for Eagles coach Jonathan Mattox, who grew up in the Athens area.
"It'll be fun coming back and getting to see family and friends," Mattox said. "Something you never really kind of imagine, growing up in Athens and now you get to return home as a head coach to play against Georgia. Definitely a full circle moment."
The Eagles got a career-high 26 points -- 20 in the second half -- from George Marshall against the Demon Deacons. He made four 3-pointers and added four rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Marshall averages 15.5 points, joining Josiah LeGree (11.5), Jon Carroll (11.0) and Anouar Mellouk (10.0) in double figures.
This will be the first meeting between Georgia and Morehead State.
