Hey, Here's A Nice Story
Last month, Eric LeGrand, the former Rutgers football player paralyzed on a hit in 2010, gave a motivational speech at Hanover Park H.S. in New Jersey. He then called up to the stage 18-year-old Gianna Brunini, and asked her to prom:
This wasn’t merely a publicity stunt—LeGrand and Bruni met years ago in therapy sessions and formed a close friendship. Brunini, who has been in a wheelchair since being diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a 2-year-old, said yes.
“I didn’t need all that, I told Eric I would have said yes if you just asked me for a cup of coffee,” Gianna said smiling.
Yesterday, the two went to prom together. LeGrand told the that she wore him out:
“She had me on the dance floor the entire night,” LeGrand said . “I’m all tired. I was out there with those 17-year-old kids. One, I felt old, and, two, I had a great time. That’s where she wanted to be. I was her date, so I just followed her, and we were out there boogieing all night.”
