Goalie's Family Celebrates And Cries After He Wins His NHL Debut
Sharks rookie netminder Troy Grosenick didn't just get his first NHL start yesterday, and he didn't merely win. He shut out the Hurricanes with 45 saves. And his family was there to see it.
Grosenick's parents made the trip to Raleigh from their home in Milwaukee, and his uncle, brother, and fiancée were in attendance too. As the horn sounded on San Jose's 2-0 win, the Grosenick clan hugged, and clapped, and then the whole thing just became too much for dad to handle.
"I haven't even seen them yet," Grosenick said in the locker room immediately after the game, "but obviously knowing that they were there provides a little support unit. It's going to be really special to look back on it. Knowing that they were here to experience it, too."
Hooray for hockey dads!
