Girls Basketball Teams Brawl During Game, Have Their Seasons Canceled
The Indiana High School Athletic Association has punished two Indiana high schools after their girls basketball teams fought on the court during a game Saturday.
IHSAA commissioner Bobby Cox said that Ben Davis High School and Pike High School would end their girls basketball seasons immediately, and called the fight “an egregious and dangerous event.”
The IHSAA detailed the schools’ punishments in a press release on Monday. Neither school will play in February’s state tournament; all coaches from the schools will have to take behavioral courses; and all players will have to take sportsmanship courses. Both schools will be on probation for the 2016-17 season.
