Ross Cameron-Imagn Images Wilmer Flores set career highs with three homers and eight RBIs as the San Francisco Giants spoiled the Athletics' first return to the Bay Area representing West Sacramento with a 9-1 shellacking on Friday.
Giants starter Logan Webb (5-3) took a shutout into the eighth inning in the opener of a three-game interleague series.
Flores launched a grand slam off A's starter JP Sears (4-3) in the third inning, a three-run shot off Michel Otanez in the sixth and a solo blast off Anthony Maldonado in the eighth, helping the Giants win for just the second time in the past seven games.
The eight RBIs were two more than the six he had produced on three previous occasions. The three-homer game was the first a Giant since Joc Pederson bombed three against the New York Mets on May 24, 2022.
The grand slam was the seventh of Flores' career.
The three homers gave Flores a team-high 10 for the season.
Webb took advantage of the early 4-0 lead to coast through the first seven innings. He lost his shutout bid one out into the eighth on a run-scoring infield single by Tyler Soderstrom. Webb finished the inning, completing his night with five hits and two walks allowed. He struck out four.
Heliot Ramos and Patrick Bailey were aboard twice apiece during Flores home runs. Jung Hoo Lee, Matt Chapman and Willy Adames contributed two hits apiece to a 13-hit assault on five Oakland pitchers.
Sears was pulled after four-plus innings, charged with four runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out two.
Luis Urias had two hits for the A's, who are continuing their rivalry series with the Giants despite having left Oakland for West Sacramento this season on their way to Las Vegas in 2028.
A double by Urias was the only extra-base hit of the night for the A's, who dropped their third straight by a margin of 37-6.
