Georgia drills UMES for second consecutive blowout win

The Bulldogs (2-0) improved to 11-0 against teams from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and has won 29 straight home games against nonconference opponents. Georgia won by 45 points against Bellarmine on Monday.
Cain shot 5-for-9 from the field, 4-for-8 on 3-point attempts, and grabbed seven rebounds.
Wilkins, a freshman who is the son of NBA great Dominique Wilkins, logged 10 of his points in the final nine minutes and added six rebounds.
Georgia's Kanon Catchings scored 14 points on 6-for-11 shooting and contributed nine rebounds and three assists. The Bulldogs also got 12 points from Jeremiah Wilkinson and nine points from Somto Cyril. Eleven Georgia players scored points.
Maryland-Eastern Shore (0-2) was led by Trey Brown with six points and seven rebounds. Joseph Locandro, who scored 17 points the season opener on Monday, was limited to five points and five rebounds.
The Hawks had more turnovers (31) than points. They made only 11 of 55 field-goal attempts (20%) and shot just 1-for-18 from 3-point range.
Maryland-Eastern Shore entered the game with plenty of confidence after taking Georgia Tech to overtime two days earlier. However, the Bulldogs quickly took the Hawks out of the game with a fast start. Georgia scored the first six points of the game and used an 11-0 run to push the lead to 22-6 with 9:32 left in the first half on a fastbreak basket from Wilkinson.
Georgia led 43-17 at the half despite missing its first 17 3-point tries -- not connecting until Cain sank a trey with 1:46 to go until the break. UMES committed 19 turnovers in the first half, which led to 15 points for the Bulldogs.
Georgia wound up hitting just 40.8% from the floor, 8 of 40 (20%) from long distance. The Bulldogs scored the game's final 23 points.
