Gene Teague Slams Head On Court, Suffers "Really Bad Concussion"
This is a scary moment from early in the second half of Friday's Seton Hall game against Lafayette. Gene Teague, who was having a phenomenal game up to that point and already had a double-double, has his feet undercut as he makes his move to the rim and violently lands on his head. He then begins convulsing.
Immediately, a Seton Hall trainer called for the paramedics. Walsh Gym went silent — the only sounds being Teague's guttural groans into the court as his body appeared to go limp.
In trying to draw a charge on a driving Fuquan Edwin, the Lafayette defender's momentum causes him to slide underneath Teague, knocking out his legs as he makes a strong move to the rim. His legs (and therefore head) go completely horizontal and he can't brace himself in time to cushion the blow.
Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard said Teague was diagnosed with a "really bad concussion" and will stay in the hospital for a few days for observation.
