Four-Overtime Minnesota State Semifinal Ends On 60-Foot Buzzer-Beater
Amir Coffey's buzzer-beater from well beyond half court delivered his Hopkins High School (Minnetonka) team to the Minnesota AAAA state championship game after a semifinal that required four overtimes.
To call the game a thriller would be a bit inaccurate. The preceding 25 minutes or so consisted mostly of Hopkins playing keep-away from opponent Shakopee, in an attempt to secure the final shot—in the last few minutes of regulation, then in the first three overtimes. (There's no shot clock in Minnesota high school basketball; the final score was 49-46.) But Coffey's Target Center bomb was awesome enough to make us forget those tactics. He's only a sophomore, but look for him on a Division I roster in the future.
