Mandatory Credit: Rob Gray-Imagn Images The Utah Mammoth scored five unanswered goals to rally for a 5-2 win against the visiting Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday.
JJ Peterka, Nick Schmaltz and Clayton Keller each had a goal and an assist for the Mammoth, who have two wins in their past seven games -- both against Buffalo. Karel Vejmelka made 17 saves.
Isak Rosen scored twice and Colten Ellis made 32 saves for the Sabres, who have lost four straight and remain winless on the road (0-4-2).
With Utah trailing 2-0, Nick DeSimone cut the deficit in half at 10:42 of the second period. Michael Carcone's missed pass attempt bounced off the right wall to the right circle, and DeSimone stepped into it to beat Ellis for his first goal this season.
Peterka scored 52 seconds into the third period to pull the Mammoth even. He picked up a loose puck high up the right wall, cut to the middle and then over to the left circle and snapped it far side.
Lawson Crouse gave Utah its first lead of the night two and a half minutes later when he took a feed from Peterka down low and roofed a snap shot under the bar to make it 3-2 at 3:22.
Schmaltz extended it to 4-2 at 10:09. Keller found Schmaltz low in the left circle, where he put it inside the far post.
Keller added an empty-net tally at 19:33.
Rosen gave Buffalo a 1-0 lead 5:33 into the game. Bowen Byram collected the puck along the half wall on the left side and sent it back for Jack Quinn at the top of the near circle. Quinn took it up the wall and into the circle before putting a shot towards the front of the net that deflected off Rosen's skate in the crease past Vejmelka.
Rosen made it 2-0 at 6:42 of the second. He sent a short pass back for Noah Ostlund above the left circle and went to the opposite circle. Ostlund sent a feed back through two Mammoth skaters and Rosen blasted a one-timer past Vejmelka stick side.
